Intelli-Building Control & Solutions is Hiring a Building Automation Controls Technician Near Chicago, IL

We are seeking an experienced Controls Technician to join our team of 20 members here at Intelli-Building Control & Solutions, LLC (IBCS). Originally a Chicago based start-up in 2009, we now serve the Midwest through several locations that include a sales office in the Chicago Green Exchange, a UL-508A certified panel shop in Lakemoor, IL, and our Indiana office based out of Indianapolis.

Our team consists of some of the most knowledgeable and skilled industry veterans to learn from. The employees at IBCS are dedicated and this is proven through our reputation in the market. Installing, commissioning, programming, and creating graphical user interfaces to meet the needs of our customers are our highest priorities. The work we do is unique every day.

We are a Reliable Controls®, Delta Controls® and a Lynxspring® dealer. We use Niagara N4 front-end solutions on most projects. Experience with BACnet, MODBUS and/or LON integration is a must. The desired candidate should also have experience recognizing issues in and debugging code. Relevant work in similar industries will be taken into consideration.

IBCS is recognized as a great building automation provider with excellence in quality, programming, project management, commissioning, and execution of the project. The ability to communicate is a MUST as you will be asked to train customers and work as part of a team.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Startup and commissioning of new systems, including checkout documentation for use in validation. Will assist in routine maintenance of existing DDC systems. Participates with verification and commissioning of an entire system including point-to-point operation, database and programming operations to ensure proper sequencing of operations. Setup and troubleshooting of MS/TP, Ethernet, and IP networks to include 3rd party integration processes. Provide setup and configuration of workstations and user interfaces. Able to work with outside commissioning agencies to complete projects as required. Training for end users on an entire DDC system with customer satisfaction and understanding being of utmost importance.

REQUIREMENTS: A candidate with at least 3 years of experience commissioning new control installations. Knowledge of HVAC is a must. This includes but is not limited to using computers for point-to-point verifications on field components, controllers, and the overall quality of workmanship. Having the knowledge to troubleshoot AC/DC wiring circuits with appropriate devices. Proficient in reading and understanding electrical/mechanical drawings and able to provide as built documentation on completion of projects.

  • High school diploma, state-recognized GED, or state recognized high school proficiency exam
  • Associates and/or Bachelor’s degree (highly preferred)
  • Controls Technician: 3 years minimum
  • HVAC Technician: 3-5 years minimum
  • Construction, Telecommunication, or Networking Technician experience: 3-5 years minimum
  • Niagara AX or N4 Certified (highly preferred)
  • Must have a valid driver's license in good standing
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
